May is the month of novelty. First, we have a new president that seems to willing to give a breath of fresh air to the European economy, inspired in some ways by Roosevelt's New Deal. May is also the month of spring cleaning and clearing out the winter cobwebs from both our physical and mental spaces, a chance to spend more time outside enjoying the balmy weather.

In this spirit, from 11 to 13 May 2012, don't miss the annual flea market of the 3rd arrondissement. 500 stands, both amateurs and professionals, will be present selling a plethora of things: used items, antiques, as well as collection pieces.

Another not-to-miss event: the 4th Edition of « Nomades ». This yearly cultural festival of the 3rd arrondissement is a lively cultural event free and accessible to all open from Thursday 31 May to Sunday 3 June 2012.

The Night of the Galleries will kick off the festival on Thursday evening starting at 18h, giving visitors the opportunity of exploring galleries scattered throughout the district. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will allow them to continue to peruse the diversity of contemporary art, culture and craft workshops in the neighborhood. They will have exceptional access to the world of galleries, showrooms, artisan workshops, art openings, cocktail parties, exhibitions, concerts, tours, shows and performances.

More than 170 participants will take to the streets of the 3rd district to offer a variety of events which are organized by « path ». Several paths such as contemporary art, fashion and design, live art, craft and heritage will be available.

There's also a revival of « Gay Paris », with a few new bars, cafés, as well as after- hour clubs to choose from.
