For instance, deuce originates from the word deux or two and Love is a deformation of œuf (egg). Anglophones clearly had a hard time pronouncing the French.

3 / We’ve created a media partnership with the CNM (Center of National Monuments) located in one of the most fabulous mansions in the Marais… the Hotel de Sully. The French are always quick to defend their rich cultural heritage and this Center does just that. Abbeys, chateaux, prehistoric caves and archaeological sites are under their protective aegis.

The mansion itself was built in 1625 and Henry IV’s financial minister, Sully, was happy to move in and enjoy this French Renaissance marvel. Built between courtyard and garden, it’s a typical 17th mansion so popular in the Marais.
